Masai Mara Game Reserve

Masai Mara Game Reserve, ‘the Mara”, is located on Kenya's southern border with Tanzania and measures 1,510 sq kms. It joins the Serengeti National Park on the Kenya/Tanzania border and together they form an ecological system comprising of the world's finest wildlife sanctuaries. The reserve is renown for its annual parade of the ‘great migration' between July and October, when 1.3 million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras move freely in a single mass from southern Serengeti to the Mara in Kenya, before returning to the Serengeti to start the cycle all over again.

The Mara is home to vast herds of zebra and wildebeest and is one of the best places to spot cheetah, lion, hyena, jackal and even the elusive leopard, as the predators stalk the open grassland. It is also a good place to spot different types of birds.

Day 8

Breakfast.  Check out of the lodge (Lake Nakuru Lodge). Depart for the Masai Mara; today we will be travelling across the Great Rift Valley - the home of the Masai. We have morning tea in Narok town. Arrive at Keekorok Lodge Masai Mara for lunch; we will be staying here for three nights. Here we see large numbers of zebras, wildebeest, elephants, and hippos.  We will also see lions, cheetah and many other species of animals and birds.
We do our first game drive this afternoon, arrive back at the lodge in time to have a drink with the hippos before they leave for their night’s grazing out on the plains
(Overnight Keekorok Lodge)

Day 9

Early morning game drive.  Back to the lodge (Keekorok Lodge) for breakfast then take our lunch and go for the day.  During these full day trips we always visit other lodges and places of interest.  During our time in the Mara we can change the schedule to suit people’s wishes; it has to be your pleasure.
(Overnight Keekorok Lodge)

Day 10

Breakfast (Keekorok Lodge). Today we arrange to suit.  May be a balloon ride across the Mara at dawn where upon landing you have a champagne breakfast in the bush. This is your preference, but I have been on a few of them now and it was always a great experience. But as you can imagine there is still plenty to do again.
It will be lunch out. Also today we visit a Masai village (Mayatta), which is very interesting.
(Overnight Keekorok Lodge)
